Happy Anniversary to Us!

Happy One Year to my Hubby Extraordinaire!  Woo Hoo! You’re the best! We did it! Yay for us!

After one year, one would think that I would have my own wedding photos all sorted through and ready to roll, but nuh-uh. There’s just too many good ones for me to sort through, but I am making it my goal to have it all in order by Year 2. I must! Who, you might ask, would a wedding photographer have photograph their wedding?  Oh, the answer was all too easy: why my buddy-o-pals Jason Walz and his wife for life Bia Sampaio, of course! Why? Because their photographs are AMAZING and their personalities are AMAZING and there you have it!

Since paper is traditionally the gift for first year anniversaries, I thought that it would be perfect to have Suzanne Cabrera illustrate our vows. Now, all of you that weren’t able to hear us a year ago (and I know that it was very difficult to hear us) will be able to read this whenever you stop by our house! Yay and thanks Suzanne!Suzanne Cabrera Illustration

Shawn, for his part, made Honey Do cards for me which I can use 5 per week.  These are six of 40 of the cards.  Ain’t he the greatest? Honey Do Cards by Shawn Bauguess

Actually, I haven’t BUT I am going to do my first summery thing and go to the beach! So in the long absence of posts that will come, I would like to leave you all with this: fun summery photos from my last trip to the Philippines.

HeroesCon and the Uber-Nerdiest

My husband has an incredibly nerdy tradition where he and his friends make an annual trip down to Charlotte to attend the HeroesCon which is a comic book convention.  I’ve never gone with him before because I am usually photographing a wedding on the same weekend, but I had no such excuse this time!  So down I went because how I love my husband and his nerdy penchants.

Also, is it weird that when I think of the word nerd in it’s most uber-nerdiest form, I want to spell it as n3rd?  Is it nerdy for me to even say ‘uber-nerdiest’?  Sigh…at any rate, I present to you Bullseye and  Silver Sable.

Happy Birthday, Ethan!

I have to start off by apologizing for the long lapse in posts.  Totally unacceptable, I know, but hey, I’ve been out taking photos instead of editing them!

It was my nephew’s birthday this past weekend, and he turned the big 0-1.  One today, ten tomorrow – they grow up SO fast. In honor, of his birthday, I’m posting some images from when my husband and I recently were able to see little Ethan and my husband’s brother’s new house in the mountains. Look at how cute the hubster is with the little guy!

Ta Da!

I’m so excited to FINALLY announce my blog.  I had been feeling overwhelmed with all the technologies out there to market yourself: Facebook, twitter, buzz, tumbler, blogging….and then the room would start to spin. I mean, I still break out the carton of ice cream every time a film stock is pulled off the shelves! What business did I have in starting a blog?

I admit, I wield my digital camera alongside my five film cameras, and yes, I do love all my cameras equally, but for some reason I resisted creating a blog.  Then, I had the realization that having a blog is a heck of a lot easier then updating your website every time you have a shoot. Especially for those shoots that gives you that excited feeling like the first time you picked up your camera.  And that’s been happening to me a lot lately. Sorry if that got a little corny – but it’s true!

So ta da!  Here’s to a new(ish) year and a new blog. Enjoy!
