Winter Engagement Portrait in Nashville

I’ll never be able to say this enough, but I LOVE my clients, which very often I can exchange “clients” for friends.  In this instance, it was certainly the case!  So, I’d love to show you the cute engagement portraits of my new buddies, Allison + Justin. We started off in their neighborhood of 12South at Sevier Park.  Allison wanted to have some winter-themed photos taken here since their wedding will be in the winter.  I loove the flannel outfits they wore and Sevier Park has some cool historic buildings that really set the stage for some vintage woodsy looking scenery.

This is Theodore aka Ted aka Teddy, their giant Goldendoodle who was full of energy and totally lovable.  Ted is a hip pupster with his hat and cigar. Ted is actually chewing on a stick – a stick that looks like a cigar, which completes his hip outfit, so we’ll go with cigar. :)

We had some BBQ over in the 12South neighborhood and took some pics in front of an awesome green building across the street. Arm wrestling, face biting, and thumb wresting were all on the menu.  Allison won. Sorry Justin, but she did. You should probably work on your thumb conditioning and challenge her to a rematch. :)

The East Bank Greenway right near the Titans stadium has some amazing views of downtown Nashville and the Cumberland River.  Nashvillians are so lucky to be able to walk over the river to downtown using their dedicated pedestrian bridge.

And of course, you can’t NOT take a photo with Elvis. Over on Broadway, it’s a kitsch-fest, but I love it, I love it, I love it. For this first time Nashville tourist, it made me insanely happy to see this street when Shawn and I went scouting the day before.

Lastly, we headed over to Union Station Hotel, which surprise, was the old train station for Nashville.  The lights outside are everything you would imagine they would be in an old 19th century building.

Thanks Allison and Justin for showing us around Nashville!  I can’t wait to photograph you guys again on the BIG DAY!!!!

New York City Engagement Portrait

I had such a blast with Shirin and J.R.!  They brought me up to the city I called home for 6 years and a city that I still adore – I mean hey, it IS the greatest city in the world – NYC, and it’s the city where they fell in love.

We started off around the brownstones in the Village, and popped into Milk and Cookies so they could share a treat.  Then we hightailed it up to Chelsea to pick up their adorable dog, Fiona and made our way over to the Hudson River Park.  I thought it was so funny that Fiona’s preferred method of transportation was in the arms of J.R. – hilarious! Why walk, when you can catch a ride?

Since, I had moved away before the High Line was completed, Shirin and J.R. graciously gave us the tour and of course, we took some more snuggly photos.  Another treat was waiting for me up there when I ran into my good friend Karen Hill, a day earlier than scheduled,  who was photographing her own client’s engagement portraits. After a quick, “See you tomorrow for lunch!” we went on to explore more of the awesome elevated rail park.  For a city so big, it sure can have a friendly small world feeling, which is the best reason why I loved photographing this engagement portrait – Shawn and I felt like we were fast friends with Shirin and J.R. and I hope that we run into them again for another, “Ah, such a small world” moment. But we will definitely see you guys back in the City for your wedding – can’t wait!

Greensboro Engagement Portrait: Kristi & Chris

I loved photographing these two lovebirds and their awesome puppers – Dutch and Beazley.  They were all great sports even though at an early 10AM it was already sweltering hot, which totally makes sense because I think all the hotness was coming from these two lovahs! :)

Phew! Things have been super duper busy for us.  Last month, we started looking for houses in Asheville, found a house, closed on a house while all the while dealing with high wedding season!  So up today, we have not one but two lovely sneak peeks from two lovely events.  First up, is a peek at a g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s. wedding at the Biltmore Estate:
