Winter Engagement Portrait in Nashville

I’ll never be able to say this enough, but I LOVE my clients, which very often I can exchange “clients” for friends.  In this instance, it was certainly the case!  So, I’d love to show you the cute engagement portraits of my new buddies, Allison + Justin. We started off in their neighborhood of 12South at Sevier Park.  Allison wanted to have some winter-themed photos taken here since their wedding will be in the winter.  I loove the flannel outfits they wore and Sevier Park has some cool historic buildings that really set the stage for some vintage woodsy looking scenery.

This is Theodore aka Ted aka Teddy, their giant Goldendoodle who was full of energy and totally lovable.  Ted is a hip pupster with his hat and cigar. Ted is actually chewing on a stick – a stick that looks like a cigar, which completes his hip outfit, so we’ll go with cigar. :)

We had some BBQ over in the 12South neighborhood and took some pics in front of an awesome green building across the street. Arm wrestling, face biting, and thumb wresting were all on the menu.  Allison won. Sorry Justin, but she did. You should probably work on your thumb conditioning and challenge her to a rematch. :)

The East Bank Greenway right near the Titans stadium has some amazing views of downtown Nashville and the Cumberland River.  Nashvillians are so lucky to be able to walk over the river to downtown using their dedicated pedestrian bridge.

And of course, you can’t NOT take a photo with Elvis. Over on Broadway, it’s a kitsch-fest, but I love it, I love it, I love it. For this first time Nashville tourist, it made me insanely happy to see this street when Shawn and I went scouting the day before.

Lastly, we headed over to Union Station Hotel, which surprise, was the old train station for Nashville.  The lights outside are everything you would imagine they would be in an old 19th century building.

Thanks Allison and Justin for showing us around Nashville!  I can’t wait to photograph you guys again on the BIG DAY!!!!

Sweet Winston-Salem Courthouse Wedding

I was super excited to photograph my first courthouse wedding last week but nothing could compare to my excitement that it was one of my best friend’s weddings. The in the moment spontaneity added to the buzz and romance of the day, and I am so happy for her.  Seeing how easy this wedding was to plan really boils it down to the very most important aspect of weddings: marriage.  The foundational essence of every wedding and something I like to remind my clients/friends whenever things get stressful! Being married is why the wedding is even happening and these two hit that point right on the head –  I love courthouse weddings!  Congratulations and love to you, Christi & Zach!

Ashley & Zak: Stunning Biltmore Estate Wedding

The Grove Park Inn, the Biltmore Estate…these creme de la creme venues of the Southeast were the setting for Ashley and Zak’s wedding.  Since the ceremony was going to be at sunset, they chose to see each other before to get some portraits, and I was so happy that they did.  There’s something about such an intimate, tender moment existing simultaneously against such expansive beauty such as a sunset over the one of the world’s oldest mountains, the Blue Ridge, that is truly heartwarming and humbling all at the same time.  It is during these shared moments when I realize what a privilege  it is to be a wedding photographer.

Their ceremony at the Walled Garden next to the Biltmore Estate was just as beautiful and concluded with doves being released into the dusky sky.

Thanks to Beth Ely and Shawn Bauguess for helping me photograph this amazing event and thanks to Ash and  Zak – I had so much fun getting to know you and photographing you and your friends and family!

Beautiful Biltmore Bridal Portrait

So excited to show these bridal portraits because Ashley made such a beautiful and easy going bride.  She kept her spirits up even though we were dodging the rain throughout the shoot.  But without the rain, we would not have had the dramatic rain clouds that you’ll see in the photos in front of the Biltmore Estate – there’s always a silver lining!  I also really love the first image that was taken inside of the Conservatory.  She looks as though she’s in some painting from the Renaissance – love her steel blue eyes and porcelain skin – Zak, you’re a lucky man!  Can’t wait to post the rehearsal and wedding of theirs from this past weekend!
